Fast-Cooking Shrimp Recipes

Without a question, shrimp is one of our beloved cooking components. They cook quickly, are very handy (you can use frozen in almost any of these recipes! ), and can be used in a variety of cuisines, from sophisticated side dishes and special occasion romance meals to party appetizers and informal weeknight dinners. We’ve compiled a list of shrimp recipes to get you started—we’re sure you’ll fall in love with the little pink crustacean as much as we have.

One of the greatest things about shrimp is how easily it can be swapped for other proteins (particularly if you’re low on time and want a quick shortcut). Looking for a quick appetizer or side dish? Try our bang bang shrimp, our shrimp cocktail (classic!), our shrimp tostada bites, or our shrimp toasts. Love chicken and rice? Swap shrimp in instead, like in our simply named shrimp and rice, our sweet corn shrimp & rice skillet, or our one-pan salsa verde shrimp and rice. Big fan of pasta? Try our one-pot shrimp primavera, our shrimp fettuccine Alfredo, or our cilantro-lime shrimp pasta. Love Asian food? Shrimp makes a great addition to all your faves, like in our shrimp kung pao noodles, our shrimp pad Thai, or our honey walnut shrimp. Need something a little handheld for an on-the-go meal? Make a shrimp sandwich or tacos, like our grilled shrimp tacos with sriracha slaw, our shrimp po’ boy, or our cilantro-lime shrimp tacos. Trust us, there’s almost no recipe that’s not improved by swapping in or adding a little shrimp.

SHRIMP SALAD

Shrimp salad is perfectly classic, but some might (wrongly) think it’s old school. Ours is far from the gloppy mayo-laden dish from the ’80s. We brightened it with red onion, celery, fresh dill, and a light mayo dressing with Dijon and lemon zest for zing.

GRILLED SHRIMP FOIL PACKETS

We love a good shrimp boil, but sometimes we don’t have time for the production. Foil packs turn a shrimp boil into individual parties that are so fun to throw onto the grill! It’s everything you love with way less work.

TUSCAN BUTTER SHRIMP

Is there anything *authentically* Italian about this recipe? Nope. Is it delicious? 100%. In fact, this Tuscan butter sauce is so good, you’ll be tempted to eat it straight out of the pan. (And we wouldn’t blame you!)

HONEY WALNUT SHRIMP

Our crispy coated version of this slightly sweet dish more closely represents the Panda Express takeout version than the traditional. The sugared walnuts are our favorite part and make the dish so special!

SHRIMP COCKTAIL

However old-fashioned it may seem, shrimp cocktail is a classic. We’ve updated this party standby with a zesty homemade sauce that packs a flavorful punch thanks to ketchup, chili sauce, and Worcestershire sauce. The small amount of celery salt ties it all together into a perfect condiment.

CHEESY SHRIMP AND GRITS

There’s a lot of richness going on here. Bacon! Butter! Cheese! To cut all the fat, you need some acid. Enter: freshly squeezed lemon juice. It brightens these bowl up BIG TIME—so don’t skip it.

BANG BANG SHRIMP

These shrimp are bangin’! The pairing of crunchy shrimp and creamy, spicy-sweet sauce is ridiculously delicious, and no matter how often we make it, it never gets old.
